Running is acammunity
Running is a community (I know that this is the exact same thing that the author said, but I actually do run everyday with a cross country team).
This group is made a community by the common interests within the group of people. This community of runners is held together by blood, sweat, and tears(their common interests and goals).
Within this group of runners they share the interest of being competing, have the need of success and fitness, and their values include hard work, competitiveness and drive.
In this group their background (such as history), competitiveness (when taken to far), arrogance (when in abundance), and the type of speed (such as the distance they run) work against each other to unglue or rip apart the community.
In this community I feel as if I am the “Heinz 59”, or the “Jack of all trades”, because I am the bridge that fills in the gaps of the community. I am a middle distance runner so I am the most versatile on the team. This means that I can do distance races like the two mile or short distance like the 200. In that aspect I can relate to each runner, and because I am in the middle of two totally different types of races I have the hardest race, the 800. This also earns me a lot of respect, so I can lead the team.
This community is by far one of my favorite communities to be apart of. First we are all in shape and we feel good most of the time. Second we get respect from our peers who think that running is so hard and that it is a torture. Then there is that family bond. The family bond is there no matter how hard you try to keep it out, but the more you try to bring it, it grows. This family bond is brought on by all the blood, sweat, and tears during the hard work and races you go through together. For example everyone goes through the pain or air deprivation brought on through thru hard work. An example of the pain can be doing workouts with names like “Devil takes the hindmost” or “Kenyans” whose barks (names) are not nearly as bad as their bite. All of this forms a love with those who endure the experience with you, and the love is dramatically bigger when each runner feeds off of each other and loves to do a hard workout with a crazy name.

Wallet.
Like anyone, I have cash in my wallet, although there is little with this economy. Unlike most people cash is my only means of payment, because I don’t want to fall into the age of plastic, although I have many cards. By the age of plastic I mean Credit cards and other such cards that trap you into debt. In the first sleeve of my wallet I have membership cards; a library card, a Safeway club card and an American Eagle card. The second sleeve has all my Gift cards which include; Hollister, Macy’s, REI, American Eagle, and Outback Steak house. In the final sleeve I have everything else. This Sleeve includes a Subway punch card, a teriyaki stamp card, my fitted specs for a speed bike, Food Handlers card, an old high school ASB card, and lastly my Evcc Id. On the other side of my wallet, I have my Enhanced Drivers License (EDL), my Washington hunter’s education card, my Washington fishing license, and pictures of my family and friends.
Looking at my wallet one could assume I am/was a preppy type of person, with the clothing cards, but there are the polar opposites too. I have hunting and fishing cards so that must make me a red neck, but I also have Library cards and school Id’s that would suggest that I am smart or a “ straight A student” too. On the other hand if you look at the ASB card, that would imply I am some sort of jock, and if you look at the EDL that would imply that I traveled a lot in North America. Well if you are to not know anything about me you would have to say that I am the “Heinz 59” of identities, or very versatile.
My personality according to my wallet is simple. There are some obvious things that one can assume. For starters one could look at the hunters permit and say that I am republican, because someone with a hunting permit probably owns a gun, and is probably in favor of the NRA, or at least a backer of the second amendment rights. Another simple assumption is that I am a saver due to the fact of the abundance of gift cards in my wallet. One could also guess that I have no debt other that school debt because I have a college Id., and I don’t have any credit cards. Lastly one could theorize that I am a hard worker because I have an ASB card which means I played sports.
If people were to just go off of my wallet on who I am they would hit dead on, on who I am on the surface, but would air ball on my personality deep inside me. What I mean by this is that I may be an athlete, and work hard at my sport, and be a hard worker because of it, but there is no way that they can guess or know that I am a shy talkative kind of guy. What I mean by that is that I am sometimes really shy and other times I could talk to a stranger for hours. People would also miss out on some of my qualities such as honesty, well behaved, funny, or friendly. This would construe them of my personality quite a bit considering when you get to know a person, you look for that kind of thing.
